As 2021 fades into 2022, we decided to offer you another mix in our GUESTMIX series precisely on NYE. This couldn’t get any more special than it is with today’s piece: we’re honored and privileged to host a devastating mix by the 18 yo trans woman (transpinay) and militant artist-activist Teya Logos (she/her/siya) from Quezon City, Philippines, one of the loudest voices in the contemporary underground club. Representing the queer community and being a voice particularly for the transfemme youth, she’s the chairwoman of the international collective CXD focused on the discussion and spreading of radical ideas and music.
Melting hardcore techno, footwork, and harsh noise influences with her abrasive, on-top-of-the-lungs screams, the proud Filipina Teya is a true force of nature who’s been hitting the scene with deafening bangers for at least three years now. Just to name a few things you should check immediately: the feature with the Nairobi experimental artist Slikback within the mammoth collaborative release Melt; the remix on Miss Jay‘s Nocturnal EP on Unizone, the cutting-edge Prague-based collective which also published Teya’s instant-classic Beki Bounce; the iconic, anti-imperialist FUCK THE WEST masterpiece on the fifth installment of the MUTANTS compilation series, which got inexplicably removed from Soundcloud for incitement to hatred; and finally, her latest outing on SZNS7N (the same UK label that, among other amazing releases, also hosted Nara’s Ipse Dixit EP) with possibly the best title track ever.
